My name is Katie and I am 23 years old. I originate from Tucson, Arizona but have now found myself in Olympia, Washington attending The Evergreen State College as a senior this upcoming year. My focus is in Forensic Psychology and I hope to one day become a criminal profiler. I currently work at a quaint little wine bar. Between work and study, I spend my time reading and writing. One of my many dreams is to publish a book of poems I have written but in the meantime I will write in this blog. I am looking forward to putting my work out there and hope for as much feedback as possible to help further my writing career.
One of my motivators for writing is the struggles I have dealt with growing up. My biggest struggle was dealing with Bulimia. It is something I have dealt with since I was about 10 years ago and I am just now starting to get to a stable point in my life. I do not know why I do it or how it started but it has made a huge impact on my life. I have gone to rehab twice now and I believe I have it under control, at least for the time being. Although nothing is certain, all I can hope is that one day I will fully accept my body for what it is, and appreciate it for what it does for me. Beautiful things come out of miserable times and that is why I write. I have had to deal with these uncomfortable thoughts and these uncomfortable thoughts are turning into poetry.
